Bestiary
Name: Dragon Ticks
Nickname(s): ‘Nightmare Ticks’
Habitat:
Anywhere in the Realm, but are more severe in warmer climates.
Appearance:
For the most part they look like a regular run of the mill tick.
But then you realize that it's startlingly a bit larger than the regular ones, and not only that...but it's spiker and has these odd ‘scale-like’ keratin growths on its mid-and back sections, which make crushing this little pest annoyingly hard and painful if you get jabbed by the gnarly spikes.
They come in a variety of interesting colors and only very slightly in shape depending on the type of dragon blood they consume.
Diet:
Dragon blood for the most part, but if faced with no alternatives; it will latch onto any living creature and be extremely hard to pull out.
Size:
The size mostly depends on the dragons they target, but roughly an Inch long and wide while ‘unsated’. When full they can get up to 5 times larger.
Temperament:
Yikes.
Interactions with other creatures:
Very annoying little pests, especially if you're a dragon or a dragon-like creature.
Humans find these things exceedingly terrifying, though some may find uses for the horrid little parasites in the form of scientific discovery or...in some cases; torture or murder methods.
