Basilisks
This page details the varieties of basilisks that can be found throughout the Realm.
Marsh Basilisk
A species of basilisk found in the tropical marshes of Padwell and the far south of Xocrium. They resemble massive, brown or green moray eels with mottled black and blue markings. They are often mistaken for large giant leeches, measuring at about 6’ long, when they are young; they remain in the care of their mother from hatchling to 10 years old.
Adult marsh basilisks are immense, measuring at anywhere from 8-13’ in length, and are highly protective of their young, as male marsh basilisks and other females will attempt to eat the hatchlings of other basilisks, even that of other marsh basilisks.
Sun Basilisk
Only ever found in Hovell. These gigantic serpents act the same as their eastern cousins, the wooden basilisks, and usually spend their time bathing their scales in the sun. Their scales are green and gold, to match the colours of the grass they usually lay in, and they have horns similar to a sundrake’s and almost resemble ‘open halos’.
Their eggs look like transparent crystals (Fun fact: Their eggs are stone-like and cannot be cracked or shattered with a simple drop/or throw) and work similarly to Sundrakes. More sun time, the better for the baby and their egg. Less sun time, baby can be born sickly and their egg is easier to break open.
Another thing to note, never get too close to a provoked Sun Basilisk unless you want to go blind from their immense light. (Ref: here) (Horn ref: here)
Wooden Basilisk
Massive draconic serpents the size of Fireworms (when curled up) said to roam the Northern Groves of Xocrium. Unless provoked or hungry, Wooden basilisk stay pretty far away from anything that is not their own kind.
If angered, well, those who do so rarely live to tell the tale. They have a powerful bite that can easily tear through strong wood and flexible jaws that can swallow just about anything whole. What got them their name however, are their antler-like horns that resemble tree branches and their scales that are said to resemble the bark of the trees in their area; great for camouflage and for catching their prey.
They may be tamed by those who raised them from birth, but getting an egg is difficult, as they remain near-constantly on their nests for the whole six months it takes for them to hatch.
Sea Basilisk
Only discovered recently with only a handful of descriptive notes and a small drawing. Sea basilisks are said to be the smallest of all the basilisk and are said to be the most peaceful. They are described to have scales that resemble whatever water source is near them (They can only be found in the Moonglow, Gaping, and Little Seas) and are covered in many fins.

'The Feared'
Only ever mentioned in legends and myth. These basilisks are feared by a good number of people in Cyr and for good reasons. The basilisks are described to be larger than the wooden and the sun basilisk, resemble long cobra with iridescent scales and have mouths that work similar to a goblin shark’s.
They are said to also be equipped with another deadly strength, camouflage. The Feared are said to be able to silently camouflage to the colours of their surroundings. (Ref: here)
Ice Basilisk
Found in caves in Dutoria and the Skyswept peaks. They are described to be the same size as 'The Feared' but just only as deadly as the Wooden or Sun basilisk.
They are covered in small spines (They have large ones near the top of their heads) and their scales are that of an icy blue. (Ref: here)
