Please take the time to read through these in full before joining RoS!
- Treat others with respect at all times, even if you disagree with them. As long as you do this, you should not run into any issues in the group.
- If you notice someone breaking the rules, please contact an admin rather than trying to deal with it yourself!
- In order to keep RoS a safe space for all ages and create a welcoming environment, NSFW content, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc, are not, under any circumstances, allowed in the group.
- As such, please do not commission/create NSFW content of RoS characters.
- As such, please do not commission/create NSFW content of RoS characters.
- If you are having any issues, do not hesitate to let the admins know; we will deal with the problem as quickly as possible! You can contact any admin about your issue, but messaging J-Haskell#7192 is always a good option.
- If an admin asks you to stop doing something, stop.
- To create a dragon/human character from RoS and participate in the group, you must get your character officially approved.
- RoS is rated PG13+ and can deal with dark subject matter, but NSFW content is not allowed in the group. Sensitive topics (like self harm, child death, etc) in writing/art and character backstories should be given a clear, easy-to-see content warning.
- Do not create side discord servers/other large communities for RoS-related content. Communities like this can’t be moderated by admins. You’re welcome to chat with your friends about RoS or engage in a private RP, but don’t make it your only manner of interacting with RoS’ community!
- You must submit characters for approval before they can be used. Art/writing of non-approved characters will not be redeemable for Bits, so be sure to get your characters approved before you try to do that.
- You must be at least 13 years old to be a member of RoS. If it is discovered that you are underage, you will be banned from the group until you reach the minimum age! RoS is about PG-13 or older in terms of content and deals with themes that are unsuitable for young members.
- We allow swearing in conversation and in-character, as long as it is not excessive and you are not using any slurs. That being said, do not swear at others members, even if you think you’re joking around. It’s easy for tone to be misinterpreted online.
- If someone blocks you/you block someone, ignore them. Don’t bring it up to the entire chat or try to ask for an explanation.
- The use of AI tools in the creation of artwork/writing is not allowed in RoS; works created using these tools will not count for group participation. Using the work of other members or admins to generate AI images/writing will be considered theft, and may be punished with a ban.
- You cannot sell premade RoS designs/adoptables or pay-to-use bases of specifically RoS content. You may raffle off designs or trade them for things of non-monetary value, however, or redo a design so that it is visually distinct and no longer resembles RoS content and sell it then.
- That being said, it’s ok to buy/sell commissions of designs/ art of RoS characters, so long as it’s not being specifically advertised as “Realm of Serpents character designs $25 each”.
- Wonder what our policy on other sales are? Check out this doc here.
- Designs with offensive symbols on them will not be approved. Designs that break this rule will not be recognized by the group, and may result in a ban.
- Please get your character officially approved before creating extensive profiles for them on websites such as Toyhouse/etc. The dragons in RoS are closed species so they do require official approval to be ‘real’. You can do this a little bit ahead of time but please don’t upload them there and then forget they exist and never get them approved!
- Your characters belong to you (and RoS content belongs to the admin team) - you may do as you wish with your characters, but if you want to sell them or create content with them that's not allowed in-group, we ask that you turn them into something non-RoS related and divorced from the group before doing so.
- Certain traits, such as hybrid status, mutations or magic, is relatively rare in-universe; you must purchase such things from the Bits Store in order to officially use them.
- See the Character Approval page for a guide to making an RoS character, and further rules regarding the type/number of characters you can possess!
- Discord is the primary place where RoS is run and if you’d like to participate in the group, you will need to join the server.
- All the normal rules of RoS apply in the discord server as well.
- You must post a short greeting in the #introductions channel before getting access to the rest of the chat. This is just to make sure that we know who is in the discord and to (hopefully) prevent people with malicious intent from just hopping on here and causing trouble.
- Keep everything in the channels they belong in, please. Pet photos go in #pets, etc.
- RoS is rated roughly PG-13 with some darker themes; try to keep your discussion within that ballpark. We’re all here to have fun, so darker subject matter is best left to other places.
- Do not mess around with @Tupperbox and make Tuppers of other members/other people's characters, even as a joke.
- Please wait at least 5-10 minutes after someone's posted their work in the #art channel before sharing yours - we want to make sure everyone's work gets the chance to be seen! It’s also always nice to say something good about someone’s work before posting yours.
- We don't allow venting about serious topics in the main chat. Please reach out to a trusted friend or family member if you need to talk about something with someone!
- Please spoiler sensitive content (such as discussion of animal injury/death, pictures of things that might be disturbing to other members, etc). For links & text, use ||content goes here|| to spoiler things.
- We use a bot called ReactionRoles to allow players to self-assign pronoun and news roles; to use it, see the #reaction-roles channel.
- There are a few topics that you should avoid in RP. Don't roleplay sex scenes, self-harm, extremely detailed gore (blood and injuries are fine to include, but please don't describe someone's intestines hanging out). There are probably a few more things that we haven't thought of, so please use your own judgement and ask if you're not sure if something is a little too intense for RoS.
- Please be respectful of the other user's wishes about their character! If they don't want them to be in a relationship with yours, don't harass them about it, and only play a one-sided pining character if they're comfortable with it. Likewise, if a character's user doesn't want to get into a fight with your character, please listen to them.
- In terms of romance, keep it to kisses and hugging. NSFW content isn't something allowed in RoS.
- Try to avoid 'auto hitting' - basically when your character attacks another character or drags them off somewhere without giving the other character a chance to react.
- Ex; you write that your character stabs another character. You give the other player no chance to have their character dodge, or even react to the fact that someone is trying to stab them. A way to fix this is to write that your character tries to stab the other one, leaving room for the other player to react. Another example would be if your character grabs another character's hand and takes them off to an entirely different part of the city. The problem with this is you're basically taking control of the other player's character. Another solution to both of these is to just ask the other player in the #rp-general chat if they're okay with what you're planning!

- RoS is loosely PG-13+. Please do not, publicly or privately, attempt to get other players to engage in NSFW RP with you. Doing so to a minor will result in an immediate ban.
TBA - this section will be updated with Quest-specific rules after Story Mode has been published.
