Springsinger Territory
Map created by MetaphysicalMonsters; does not include minor colonies. See full-sized image here.
Location Name: Xivipa
Major NPCs: Orchid
Founded: ??? B.A
Region: Springsinger territory
Xivipa is the forefront of art and innovation in the jungle, paralleled only by the inventions of the Stormheralds and Ironbrook. It’s also the largest Springsinger colony. The colony is gorgeous, but also a mess. It’s swarmed with Springsingers and art of every kind, there’s sculptures and platforms suspended by ropes everywhere and every surface is covered in either murals or carvings. Xivipa is especially known for the bizarre and beautiful plants bred to be like no other and the amazing dyes they make. Their contests and exports have drawn dragons and even humans from across the Realms, and newer structures are designed with them in mind, especially since their services and art are highly valued here.

Location Name: Paradox - formerly Yxei
Major NPCs: Fogsong, Chuquiragua
Region: Springsinger territory
The second largest colony in the jungle, only having a slightly smaller population than Xivipa. This colony used to be called Yxei, changing only in the 450s A.E.D, and the old buried structures in the center are called Old Yxei. Ever since the Paradox organization exploded in popularity the colony exploded in population, and now there’s hardly a dragon in the colony that isn’t part of the organization. The new architecture of Paradox is very advanced, much of it being carved into the Uexey Spires and even moving stone from them to build structures in the jungle below. The architecture is radically different than any other Springsinger colony, being much more open and organized. It’s a marvelous place full of almost as much art as Xivipa is, but Springsingers who have only visited will tell you that the city feels weirdly neat and empty.
Since the 460s, the Paradox organization has been under the leadership of an ambitious springsinger named Fogsong.

Location Name: Zaitu
Major NPCs: Kingfisher
Region: Springsinger territory
Located on the path from Theavia to Cyr, Zaitu is a trading hotspot, many stopping here to restock supplies. The colony is unlike any other Springsinger colony, being designed to weather sea storms and with obvious influences from all the cultures that pass through. Including being a center for trading in the jungle, the colony is rather obviously a place for tourists and is full of strange and unusual things from the depths of the jungle that most even most Springsingers don’t like. Zaitu’s populous is filled with dragons from distant lands and just as many hybrids.

Location Name: Upyayi Stronghold
Major NPCs: Xiai Region: Springsinger territory An ancient stronghold from back when Elder Drakes still ruled the land. It is a colony carved into an absolutely massive tree, which despite being full of carvings and hollows is still very much alive. While it’s branches are full of new artful homes the original openings are rather bare, and are carved in a way that requires one to be small (or able to squeeze into small spaces) and able to fly to enter. The inside however, is absolutely stunning. The entire inside of the tree is covered in ancient carvings, the newest seeming to take place after the Night of the Red Moons and before the Moonvipers arrived. The oldest, on the other hand, have to be centuries before the fall of the Elder Drakes. The carvings range greatly in style and subject, and if only their dates of creation could be accurately pinpointed, they could be used to record the history of the jungle and its culture. The Springsingers living here are very respectful of these carvings and none of their decorations or dwellings disturb them at all. Some of the carvings in the tree and the burning at the bottom suggest that at one point it was on the very edge of the jungle. |

Location Name: Yasudi Stronghold
Major NPCs: TBA
Region: Springsinger territory
The original Yasudi Stronghold is carved into a massive Uexey Spire, quite possibly the largest of them. It has very similar entrances to the Upyayi Stronghold, though it’s likely much older, as is evident by the erosion of the structures on its top. There are complex tunnels carved into the spire that are easy to get lost in and are covered in carvings, much as Upyayi is, though these seem to primarily depict fiction. Carved into the top of the spire is a massive amphitheater that somehow not only boosts the sound of a song, but also the reach and effect. There are unobtrusive homes newly built onto the side of the spire, but as they’re not protected like they are in Upyayi they have to be repaired often.

Location Name: Yasudi Stronghold
Major NPCs: Uriutu
Region: Springsinger territory
Xiuji is an absolutely stunning colony, which is just as old as it is beautiful, if not more so. The colony is located in a large hollow behind a waterfall. There are stepping stones and pools under the waterfall that dragons can be found playing in at all hours of the day and night. Truly, one has to be unbothered by noise to live here. There are carvings and statues of immense size in the back of the hollow, and there are old carved structures that allow Springsingers to make hanging homes on the ceiling. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough room in the hollow itself for a proper settlement, but Springsingers refuse to settle any further south than the waterfall for fear of what lies in the Ilzau Forest. Xiuji is almost a sacred place, being the only place south of the Overgrown Mountains that has not been consumed by the Ilzau Forest, and many Springsingers will come from far and wide to stand under the waterfall.

Location Name: Luhpsas
Major NPCs: TBA
Region: Springsinger territory
A small colony on an island that shares its name in the far east. The colony is built low to the ground and has a very unique run-down but sturdy look to it. All the families here are very old and superstitious and have a unique artstyle, usually characterized by harsh stylized lines and deep reds made from local plants. They have enough stories to fill an entire book that’ll leave you hoping the only things that can drag you into the Wild Ocean are riptides.

Location Name: Jruzoh
Major NPCs: TBA
Region: Springsinger territory
A tiny settlement on the coast of Cyr. Very few young dragons live here, and even fewer stay. The place is only home to old intimidating Springsingers who know how to use their claws as well as their songs. The colony serves as a shield between travelers who wander too far south and the Ilzau Forest, preventing anyone from angering the beasts within. It is similar to Luhpsas in that it has very unique art, old-style names, and plentiful superstitions. The inhabitants of Jruzoh don’t sing often, but when they do those with sensitive stomachs are advised to leave.

Nobody knows much about what lurks in the Ilzau Forest, as the few that returned didn’t make it deep enough to truly anger something. The place is known not only for its massive dragon-eating monsters, but for a deep unsettling feeling that lets you know the moment you’ve strayed too far.
There are countless superstitions about what lies here. Monstrous beasts? Cursed kings? Temperamental gods? Or somehow something worse? Many locals believe the forest itself is alive in a way the rest of the forest isn’t, that while the jungle is slow and creeping, the Ilzau Forest is inescapably quick and predatory. |
Often just referred to as “uexey” or “uexeys” (plural) by locals, the Uexey Spires are stone spires ranging in size from reaching just above the jungle or being more than a hundred feet tall and about 25 ft wide (~7.5 m wide, ~30 m tall). They are found all along the Overgrown Mountains and are only visible from above because the plant growth on top of them isn’t as thick as the jungle below and appears a bit lighter. The Paradox and Yasudi Stronghold, as well as some less notable small colonies are all carved into Uexey Spires or more commonly rested atop or on the sides of them.

Incredibly clean and cold freshwater springs on top of Zeyzehl mountain in the Overgrown Mountains. These are the springs from which the aqueducts bring water to all of the colony.
