The only record of history Springsingers have are the songs and carvings mentioned in the Language section (see Culture page). This leaves multiple stories for every event and many likely exaggerated or even entirely false tales that just can’t possibly be real.
Elder Drake Rule [??? B.A.- 1 A.E.D.]
The jungle floor was too thick for Elder Drakes to move through and the trees too hard to climb, but that doesn’t mean that Springsingers were unaffected by them. For a while Springsingers hid deep in the jungle where they could not be found and acted as a safe haven for any dragon willing to make the journey into the unknown. Most of the stories of these dragons from far-off lands have been lost to time, but the evidence of their existence can still be seen in the many Springsingers that are just a bit off.
No matter how deep they hid, the Elder Drakes were relentless. They started to destroy the jungle, downing or even burning ancient trees and destroying vulnerable colonies in the process. That was when Springsingers started to sing offensively. Nobody knows how this started, but considering the emotional nature of Springsinger’s songs, it might’ve just taken one to get angry enough. They managed to force the Elder Drakes out of the jungle and defended their borders fiercely, forming colonies that served to keep the jungle separate from the outside world. Some cared not if those attempting to get into the jungle were Elder Drakes or another dragon.
When the Night of the Red Moons came the only thing to save Springsingers from being destroyed by each other and the dragons they had once provided a safe haven for was a small, fragile flower—the Illumia Bloom. The light from the flowers freed the dragons of the jungle from the Moon Sister’s curse. From then on Springsingers grew Illumia Vines in and outside their homes and wore their petals. Sometimes smoke from the Fireworm’s island would cause the moons to rise red, which was nothing new, but now caused Springsingers to cower in fear, clutching a sacred flower. To this day old houses and colonies are crawling with these vines and it’s seen as good luck to carry Illumia petals around. In the more isolated and superstitious colonies red moons are seen as omens for terrible events.

Early History [15 - 55 A.E.D.]
After 15 years of tense peace waiting for the other shoe to drop the Moonvipers came bearing the news that the Elder Drakes were gone for good. At first the Springsingers rejoiced and welcomed their new neighbors, opening their borders once again. Once word spread of the Moonviper’s involvement in the Night of the Red Moons however Springsingers blamed them for the casualties their curse had caused and chased them from the jungle. Superstitions and folk stories about evil, cursed moons ran rampant in these days, but have mostly died out over the centuries. At the time though, the Springsingers were filled with fear and mistrust of dragons outside the jungle.
Fogtongue’s Conquest [55 A.E.D.]
This all seemed to culminate into the actions of one dragon named Fogtongue. Her life before her conquest wasn’t recorded, but it is assumed that she had fought the Elder Drakes when they were alive, and likely was responsible for most of the few Moonvipers casualties. She had been working towards her goal for many years, but it was only in 28, when she was about a century old, that she became known throughout the whole jungle. She had written a song called “Hive Mind” that captured a dragon’s mind as the Moon Sisters had done 37 years prior. She claimed that she was more powerful than the moons and the stars and the mountains, that the world brought chaos and she brought order. Any powerful person could cause senseless violence but she alone could command the world. The Springsingers rejected her. They had no interest in leaving the jungle, but more than that they didn’t want to hurt or control other dragons, not even the Moonvipers. Then Fogtongue sang. She captured and controlled anyone who dared go against her and started to move to do the same to other colonies.
She was only stopped by a dragon who, before that moment, was nameless. They were born deaf, and were the only dragon able to resist Fogtongue’s call, and so they killed her. Before then deaf Springsingers struggled greatly, remaining nameless for their whole lives and often not being able to find a family. Fogtongue’s killer had been lucky to find a family that would accept them and learn to communicate with them, for they spoke with their hands. Before then they were the only dragons who knew their name, but after Fogtongue’s death the jungle was eager to learn the name of Cloud.

Modern History [55 - 506 A.E.D.]
Because of Cloud’s fame, other forms of art became much more popular. Over time creativity took away from the fear and mistrust of the early years and the jungles became open to travel and trade again.
In mid 400, the Paradox organization came into being. It started off as a club between friends, but grew into a decent sized organization. In its early days one of it’s architects invented the aqueducts that span springsinger territory. When she and her students went around setting them up for the colonies they attracted a lot of attention, and after that Paradox exploded in popularity, with almost all of it’s home colony dedicated to it now.
For a few years now, much of the organization has been following the influence of a dragon named Fogsong. Under his guidance supplies from all around the jungle and even beyond have been collected just for the artists of Paradox. Now it’s more difficult for artists outside of the organization to get access to quality supplies, but that’s not stopping amateurs from making do. The Paradox organization has stopped allowing outside artists at their festivals, as they believe that all other art is juvenile and unsophisticated.
