Northern Shipwrecker Abilities
Physical Abilities
All Shipwreckers are naturally suited to life at sea, although they cannot breathe underwater, and as a result, dwell in ships and floating cities instead of the open ocean. Their fins and whale-like tails make them the fastest swimmers in the Realm, rivalled perhaps only by the tidekeepers. They have small fins on their cheeks, neck, legs and tail, and a leathery hide similar to that of dolphins and whales.
Northerners are heavyset and powerful, with a pair of narwhal-like horns and a roman nose. They have thick layers of blubber to ward off the cold of their arctic homeland and while less flexible than their Southern kin, are more physically powerful. Northerners suffer immensely in warm environments, and will often risk heat exhaustion or even death if they aren't careful.
Their shorter, fin-like wings are similar to that of the tidekeepers; they can be used to glide brief distances but are incapable of powered flight, and far more useful for swimming.
Both types of Shipwrecker have a pair of forward-facing horns used to ram whales and large prey at fast speeds to deadly effect. Another natural gift they possess is the ability to drink seawater. Whereas others might get sick or dehydrated by it, they are able to separate the water from everything else, and thus are unaffected by it.
Their long whiskers, while they may look like they're just for show, are extremely sensitive to minute changes in the water. On land, they're able to sense incoming weather. Underwater, they're able to sense the movement of everything around them, thus allowing them to navigate dark waters or to sense when something is approaching.

Senses
Though they have keen vision both above and below water and an excellent sense of taste and hearing, both Northern and Southern shipwreckers are incapable of perceiving the sense of smell. Their eyes have a tapetum lucidum and reflect light.
Shipwreckers can be quite noisy, capable of producing calls as loud as a modern jet engine. This ability can be used to stun small fish and animals, as well as communicate over great distances.
