The Government of Ironbrook
There is no one actually ‘elected’ to the ‘government’ of Ironbrook. Currently, the government consists of the best scientific and magical minds coming forward and explaining their side. Efficiency is a trait that everyone values.
If there truly is an issue that needs attention and no group will concede, they will turn to the wisest in their land - the Augury. There are many rumors about her, that she was a woman kissed by God and given the ability to not only see but to teach the knowledge of magic.

Federal Government
The Augury
Once the overall ruler of Ironbrook, she has stepped down in the past century or so and taken a more laid back position. She is revered as a living deity and adored by her people. She is always accompanied by her chosen Necromancer and a chosen handmaiden. When she decides on something, it will happen.
The Necromancer
Since before the foundation of Ironbrook, the Augury has always been accompanied by a single chosen necromancer. Their main duties are to preserve the Augury’s health and longevity, using their magic to extend her lifespan and raise her from the dead should she perish.
These necromancers are often taken from their families at a young age to be raised and educated in Zenith, taught to be absolutely loyal to the Augury.

The Connoisseurs
Also known as magistrates, Connoisseurs are chosen from the most brilliant of Ironbrook’s elite. At all times there are nine of them, with the eldest their leader and holder of a tie-breaking vote in any situation. They are the executive managers of Ironbrook. While they do most of the work of keeping Ironbrook stable, they follow the Augury without question, as all of Ironbrook should.
When a position as a Connoisseur opens up, the entire population of Ironbrook may vote, though the final choice for who takes the position is up to the Augury herself. Candidates are usually City-Fathers/Mothers, though anyone with some leadership background may attempt to run for the position. Connoisseurship is for life, with elections often happening every decade or so.

The Augury’s Talons
The personal servants of the Augury and keepers of the peace in Ironbrook. The Talons should be looked towards with respect and are the ideals of what citizens should strive towards. They work as police, researchers, and magical experts.
Regional Rulers
City-Parents
City-Parents are essentially mayors or just elected leader of cities. It can be just about anyone over the age of eighteen. City Parents can also be called governors, mayors, chairmans, lord-mayor (frowned upon), Burgermiester (very old, usually as a joke), and finally civil judge.
Delegates
Delegates are leaders of smaller cities and towns. They can also be representatives of sections of cities.
For example, Zenith has an area called the Summit. It would have its own delegate, but the delegate would report to the City-Parent rather than being wholly autonomous.

Scientific and Magical Minds
As Ironbrook is incredibly technologically advanced, many people in high positions in their occupations (experts and masters), are known to have a finger in politics in Ironbrook. There are many branches that are branches of governments. Medical Branch, Alchemy Branch, Inventor Branch, Mathematics Branch, Military Branch, Engineering Branch, and many other branches! They come together and discuss what needs to be discussed. Then they go to the Connoisseurs and explain, petition and present how this idea will work, why they need it, the downsides, the upsides, the costs. Then the Connoisseurs will vote, give their opinion, perhaps add some words of wisdom and be on their way. While it’s very taxing, the job does have its perks.
Inheritance
It is typical for positions and wealth to be passed down to the child who the parents believe had accomplished more with their life, although exceptions do occur. Some families will go so far as to adopt a talented young individual from a poor family as their child when they have none of their own, or theirs is a complete failure, so that their efforts will go to someone who deserves it and will expand upon their achievements.
Climbing the Ranks or Losing Power
It takes a great deal of effort and talent to gain a position of power and respect within Ironbrook. Losing such a position is, however, equally uncommon, and only occurs if the official is revealed to be horribly corrupt or otherwise involved in a scandal.
