Physical FeaturesWindwyrms are the largest of dragonkind, standing at an imposing nine and a half feet at the shoulder with a massive wingspan to match. They are covered in feathers from head to tail. They have a sharp, raptor-like beak and scaled feet with hooked talons. Their tails are feathered and resemble that of birds instead of the usual lizard-like ones found on other dragons.
Their wings are broad and typically resemble the shapes of large birds of prey, though it isn’t uncommon for some windwyrm families to have distinct wing shapes, like that of an albatross or peregrine falcon. Aristocratic windwyrms are typically born with longer tail feathers, resembling that of pheasants and peacocks. Colours & PatternsWindwyrm plumage can be any colour of pattern found in birds or their recent ancestors.
Their colouration may vary depending on what region of the kingdom they were born in; those who live near the coast resemble seabirds, those in the forests of Blackpine arboreal birds, those from Bitterpeak and the Crater like birds of prey, and those in the farmland-rich areas of Roseglade have bright, colourful feathers. Their large eyes have round pupils and can be nearly any colour. |
