Merosian Appearance
Physical TraitsThe people of Meros are extraordinarily diverse; skin colours range from pale as milk to almost pure black. This is thanks to their culture of trade and their history as refugees from the Elder Drakes; people from around the Realm come to Meros to buy and sell goods, and many Merosian merchants travel to distant countries to further their business. Marriages between them and people from other nations are extremely common.
They can range in height from as short as 4’5 to as tall as 6’11. Although there is no typical body type, due to the wealth of their city-states, Merosians tend to be well-fed and very few are malnourished. Despite their other differences, almost all (born) Merosians have grey or green eyes. The City-StatesAlthough the citizens of Meros all have a great range of physical features, there are some more common in each city-state of the nation.
Citizens of Pars Solis and Chrysos are more likely to have blonde hair. People from Madeo usually have darker brown hair and medium-toned skin. Those from Amara Antrum often have black hair and dark eyes. Pruinans often have violet or blue eyes, thanks to marriages with their Dutorian neighbours being common. Ferrans are more likely to have reddish hair. Concidans are typically on the shorter end of Meros’ height spectrum. Carissians are often the ‘prettiest’ out of all the city-states. And, lastly, Testudans tend to be the tallest of Meros’ citizens. These are, of course, only generalizations. People from all city-states vary greatly in appearance and do not always fit these descriptions. |
Clothing
Meros has a cool climate, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters; as a result, the citizens’ clothing reflects this. Winter clothes often feature furs and leathers traded from Dutoria, and summer clothes are made from specially-woven fabrics from Padwell that help with the heat on sunny days.
Fashion changes quickly in Meros, but currently, they share much in common with the upper classes in Ironbrook, wearing clothes similar to 19th Century Europeans. Wearing jewel and gold-encrusted garments are considered ‘tactless’ and the wealthy prefer to show off with well-made clothes with good-quality materials rather than ‘wearing their bank account’.
In Chrysos, however, people do tend to wear their bank account. Clothing is gaudy and gilded and in all ways over-the-top. In Acies Ferro, military dress and small amounts of armour are not uncommon. In Madeo, people tend to dress in sailor’s garb more often than anything else. And Concido’s has seen recent fashion influences from Padwell. In Pruina, there's a strong trend towards Dutorian styles and patterns.
