The Land of Ironbrook
Up on the mountain is fairly chilly and even when the sun shines it can be rather cold. On the mountain, they get a wide range of weather; frigid winters and hot summers when the sun is out (the cities are above the clouds in some places). Down the mountain is a different story. It’s very chilly and since it's the ‘slums’, people aren’t as organized to create heated systems for the entire towns/villages, but there are irrigation systems and there are shelters.
🜲 Zenith
Ruler: TBD
Founded: ~ 131 B.A.
Region: Upper Ironbrook
Nicknamed “The Summit”, Zenith is the first city that the Augury made when first settling on the mountains. Located on the summit of Mount Ironbrook, this is where the fearsome and majestic kingdom of Ironbrook began. Zenith is home to Ironbrook's elite and ruling classes. It has an abundance of shopping malls, businesses, laboratories, and many other fun and modern facilities. It is also the home of the main political building: Summit City Hall.
✪ Victoria
Ruler: TBD
Founded: After 131 B.A.
Region: Upper Ironbrook
Victoria was the second city to come into existence. No one is quite sure where the name came from, there are some myths that it was the Augury’s mother’s name. Other’s say the Augury’s first Necromancer created it. Some have even said it’s the Augury’s name. Now, however, it doesn’t matter. Victoria is mostly filled with residential areas for more of Ironbrook’s elite.
The city is very silent after dark due to this, without much of a night life; anyone who makes too much noise is liable to have the local Talons knocking on their door to get them to quiet down. There is a famous street named Egress Crescent where, in 473 A.E.D, an ex-Talon and their Familiar created a massive sinkhole, killing many and leaving a permanent scar in the city.
Some locals believe that stepping on the crack where the earth sealed up after will make the souls of those who were killed emerge and drag you under.
Ruler: TBD
Founded: TBD
Region: Upper Ironbrook
Nicknamed “The City of Lights” or just “Lumen”, Lumen is the city where the darkness is nothing but a myth and the stars are only a legend. While not as nice as Victoria or Zenith, it’s where the celebrities and elite go for a good time. It is populated by many casinos and several bars and clubs. Some of these facilities include Starlight Casino, Jade Dove Casino, The Sapphire Theatre, Ruby Siren Club and several other attractions.
Ruler: Artem Timur Osipov-Sokoloa
Founded: TBD
Region: Upper Ironbrook
Business district. Many facilities are here. Of course, there are some hard-working businesses, but there are places that people go in and they don’t come out. One of the biggest prisons is here:.
✪ Graece
Ruler: TBD
Founded: TBD
Region: Upper Ironbrook
While a smaller city, it is no less important than Zenith. Graece was founded by the first Connoisseur, a man named Cirris Dane. He named the city after his wife, Gracie. He made the city into the main headquarters of the political branch in Ironbrook, however, it has evolved into more since its creation. Currently, the main buildings are the Grace Courthouse, Connoisseur’s Legislatorial, countless post offices and finally the school there, named “Graecus Academy for Prodiges”.
Ruler: Esfir Veronika Baranova-Egorova
Founded: TBD
Region: Lower Ironbrook
Brattleport is the main port for all of the seafaring trade that comes into Ironbrook. The city has a very diverse population, as it is one of the most common locations for those from outside nations to move to and settled down. As a result, Brattleport is considered to be one of the most culturally diverse locations in Ironbrooks.
The city's population largely rely on seafood to feed themselves, but as many of the neighboring villages have a strong agricultural sector (and Eastice and Blueviolet), Brattleport also has access to interesting vegetable-based meals as well.
Brattleport has three school districts with three high schools in each. They also have two large, extremely well-known universities.
✪ Eastice
Ruler: Timofei Kovac
Founded: TBD
Region: Lower Ironbrook
Eastice is an important source of Ironbrook’s minerals and mining resources.
A small town, the men and women of Eastice have ground hardy over the years. They are shorter than average and are very stout. Some believe this evolution is due to magic in the mines, but some believe its just simple human evolution.
There are some scientists that wish to investigate Eastice and unravel its secrets once and for all, but the Ironbrook Connoisseurs have always vetoed the idea. Additionally, the one time scientists did go there and investigate, the miners fought back and staged a riot (known as the Eastice Riots) against the invading scientists in 494 A.E.D. No one has tried to investigate Eastice since.
Additionally, it seems that once in a while, there are strange disappearances that happen in the mines. No one has come forward to explain or asked for help investigating, so Ironbrook tries to ignore this secret living under their feet.
✪ Thalos
Ruler: Renate Oklan and Aksel Oklan
Founded: TBD
Region: Lower Ironbrook
Another coal town, unlike its sister city Eastice, it mainly mines natural gases and is also a very large lumber town. Its current leaders are Renate and Aksel Oklan, twin siblings of the late Osvalt Oklan.
Ruler: TBD
Founded: TBD
Region: Upper Ironbrook
Vertspell is a suburban area that is known for its small mom-and-pop shops. It's also well known for its majority dragon population. Stormheralds and Windwyrms are the main population but Shipwreckers, Springsingers and other dragon types have been known to settle down here as well.
✦ Eriston
Town Name: Eriston
Ruler: Bukhalo Tanas Sergeyevich
Founded: TBD
Region: Lower Ironbrook
Eriston is what Ironbrook would called a “little big city”. It is by far Ironbook’s most dangerous place to live.
Eriston, like Thaumstead and Brattleport, has its own port. However, Eriston’s port is filled continuously with silt from the Iron Run and therefore isn’t a real viable port. Despite this, Eriston still uses it’s port and is used as the main entry port for contraband and illegal substances in Ironbrook.
Despite this, Eriston still uses it’s port and is used as the main entry port into Ironbrook for contraband and illegal substances.
Besides being an incredibly shady and dangerous city, Eriston is filled with historical homes and landmarks.
The infamous organization the “Broken Talons” once plotted to overthrow the Augury in the Iliev house. It was here that the assassin who took the life of Augury’s necromancer Nastya Augur lived and trained. After that tragic day, it did not take long for the Talons to hunt down the organization and bring them to justice, and the house has been reduced to a fraction of its former glory. Its bullet-riddled visage stands as a grim reminder of what happens to those who would attempt to usurp the will of Ironbrook’s government.
Bridgeport - Bridgeport is the wharf area. It is the district with Eriston’s main port. It's mostly warehouses with one big seafood market on the water. Housing in Bridgeport is solely the apartments above the markets.
Lower East - Also known as “Little Lumen”, Lower East is the ‘fun’ part of town. There are many clubs and businesses in this area, as well as miniaturized landmarks from all over Ironbrook. Lower East has one elementary school, one secondary school, and East Bridge College.
Rodwik Hill - Rodwik hill would be considered the wealthier part of Eriston. Rodwik has 1 elementary schools, 2 middles schools and then another college.
The Scaffold - The Scaffold is the lowest tier of Eriston. There are many gangs and violence in this part. The Scaffold had a school system but after a fire, the main High School wasn’t able to rebuild.
✦ Ironwyn
Ruler: N/A
Founded: ??? B.A.
Region: Lower Ironbrook
Ironwyn used to be the biggest city in Lower Ironbrook, and was the site for much of Ironbrook’s early industrial advancement. Under another name, Ironwyn was the Capital in the story of the beginning of Ironbrook. While the old palace is now flooded by the Iron Run river, the town's square where the tyrant king was hung still stands. Now the city is a shadow of its former glory; the once magnificent buildings are run-down and falling apart.
Despite this, some stubborn few still make their homes here, but it's nowhere near as populated as it once was. As the river floods annually, it's hardly an easy place to call home.
✦ Fallford
Ruler: TBD
Founded: TBD
Region: Upper Ironbrook
Fallford is more of a military base than an actual town, and is best known for its jail; most of Ironbrook's criminals are housed here, and they are well equipped to handle all sorts of criminals from the smallest felons to the highest security offenders. Due to how close they are to the border and the already strong military presence, talks with the Windwyrms - the last one five or so years prior - are held here.
Fallford has a couple of facilities dedicated to the Talons and Talon research. There is a large familiar research facility that is known for its breakthroughs in Familiar research, as well as a prominent Talon training camp.
Most of the housing in Fallford is apartments, condos, and townhouses. Oftentimes Talons and military will cycle through the housing here while on duty, and then go back to their regular homes elsewhere in Ironbrook. Certain ranks of the Talons are scheduled to go to Fallford for training every six months, and that's usually the type that lives in Fallford. There are also scientists and researchers who live there, but they usually make their homes in Fallford full-time, rather than only twice per year.
Ruler: Dresvyanin Dimitri Vladislavovich-Frolov
Founded: TBD
Region: Lower Ironbrook
Thaumstead is Ironbrook's other major port.
While not as big as Brattleport, Thaumstead connects to Hovell, the Stormheralds as well as the Springsingers. It also connects to the ocean in between the continents, and most ships from Theavia will stop in Thaumstead or Eriston out of convenience. Skyships arriving from Meros will dock here, rather than going any further inland, before heading back across the Gaping Sea.
Ruler: Bobr Natasha Ilyinishna
Founded: TBD
Region: Lower Ironbrook
Blueviolet is the location of most, if not all, of Ironbrook’s agriculture. They are a small, tight-knit community and most of its citizens share a love for - or at the least the occupation of - farming. Due to producing most of the non-imported food, despite being a relatively small, sparser-populated place, they do have a decent amount of sway with the rest of the nation.
Until about 30 years ago, Magehaven was a bustling place. Then, in 473 A.E.D, the city's main alchemical brewery exploded, and half-completed potions as well as toxic ingredients showered the city streets, leaving hundreds dead and thousands injured. Evacuations started that very day; the government said to bring anything that they could carry. Thousands of pets were left behind, as many thought they would going to go back home.
Most people were either brought in for testing or were able to settle in other smaller towns around the country. Unfortunately, many people experienced harsh and terrifying side effects from the blast and the outpouring of magical energy from the brewery. Some side effects were minor and easily treatable, while others underwent terrifying mutations that, in some cases, lead to painful deaths.
The area is currently forbidden to enter and guards patrol the grounds 5 miles from the site. Those who can go into Magehaven (whether it be for research or illegally) often find a city that is stuck in time. Cars, homes, and buildings are all exactly as they were left, and strangely mutated animals and plants can be found in all corners of the affected area.
☗ Rhuin
Every second week of Spring, mothers all around bathe their newborn children in the waters. The wealthiest go up to the northern part of the river, to where the water is most concentrated with the sea and make a day of it. The less wealthy go further down the river to the mouth of Lake Sanguine.
The Augury’s Perch is a large temple/mansion that resides on a smaller hill adjacent to Zenith. There is a large garden, a large praying area to the patron goddess, the Augury. There is also a living area within the temple for the Augury, the Augury’s Necromancer, the Augury’s staff that maintain the estate, and finally, any Brookians who are lucky enough to be hosted at the Perch.
